Googles Human Resources Team - 590 Words

Google Human resource team has three types of expertise hired to achieve a successful workforce. The three main competencies are problem solving with no human resource skills, client relations with human resource background, and analysis, statistics and research (kreitner kinicki 2013) This one-third hiring model has produced cells within the Human resource department instead of a team. Setting up cross-functional teams within the department and preparing some team building for better understanding of each expertise would lead to a more cohesive team built on trust. In order to establish teams within the human resource group you must engage the group in its role. Analyze the chemistry and team harmony. Provide a supportive environment to include tools, schedules and training, and focus on organizational culture and strategy. When teams are established they go through Tuchman’s 5 stages of forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013). D uring the forming stage teams are instructed in teamwork competencies or the objectives only as long as the goals are measurable, understood by all, and are realistic can the team be successful (Cross functional team web). The storming stage is when member of the group start realizing personality differences and where they fit into the group. Leaders start to emerge, discussions are less than productive, and patients are tested.
